Automated Sump Monitoring and Pump Control: Preventing Overflow Events

Preventing Overflow Events with Automated Sump Monitoring and Pump Control

Imagine this: It’s the middle of the night, a storm is raging outside, and suddenly, you get an alert on your phone. It’s your Leakwise system, warning you of rising water levels in your sump. Because of Leakwise’s automated sump monitoring and pump control, you can take action before disaster strikes.

At Leakwise, we understand the critical importance of reliable sump pump control. Our company began in 1990 as Agar Technologies Ltd, a spin-off from Agar Corporation Inc., with the aim of harnessing the proven effectiveness of Electromagnetic Energy Absorption technology for environmental applications based on floating sensors.

Two years later, the first ID-221 sensors were shipped to customers. In 1999, the company was acquired by Ionics Inc. and renamed Ionics Agar Environmental Ltd. In 2006, Ionics Inc. was acquired by GE as part of the establishment of the developing Power & Water sector, and the company operated under the name GE Analytical Instruments. In March 2017, as part of the sale of GE’s water business to Suez, the company became independent again under a new name: Agar Environmental Ltd.

Sump pumps are designed to remove accumulated water, preventing flooding and water damage in basements, crawl spaces, and other low-lying areas. However, they are prone to failure due to various factors, including power outages, pump malfunctions, and clogged intakes. Traditional sump pump systems often rely on manual checks or basic float switches, which can be unreliable and provide limited insight into system performance.

This is where Leakwise steps in, offering advanced solutions for automated sump monitoring and pump control. Our systems provide real-time data on water levels, pump status, and other critical parameters, enabling proactive management and preventing costly overflow events.

Here’s a story from a client I worked with a few years ago. He had a vacation home that was often unoccupied for weeks at a time. One winter, a pipe burst, and the sump pump failed. By the time he discovered the problem, the basement was flooded, causing significant damage. After installing our Leakwise system, he received an alert about a potential issue during another cold snap. He was able to remotely shut off the water supply and arrange for repairs, preventing a repeat of the previous disaster.

Leakwise systems offer a range of benefits, including:

  • Early Warning Alerts: Receive instant notifications of rising water levels, pump failures, and other potential issues.
  • Remote Monitoring: Access real-time data and control your sump pump system from anywhere with an internet connection.
  • Automated Pump Control: Optimize pump operation based on actual water levels, reducing energy consumption and extending pump life.
  • Data Logging and Analysis: Track system performance over time, identify trends, and optimize maintenance schedules.

The company is proud to continue a long legacy of a global regulatory base and a successful product line. We invite our existing and new customers to continue with us on the journey towards a cleaner and safer world.

Leakwise is committed to providing innovative and reliable solutions for environmental monitoring and protection. Our sump monitoring and pump control systems are just one example of how we are helping our customers create a safer, more sustainable future.
